Beauty Talk with make-up artist Bellina Lambdin
I had the chance to interview Bellina Lambdin, a long time Beauty Consultant for Merle Norman Cosmetic. She expressed her love for her job and dedication to making her clients happy. She also gives our readers a few skin care and makeup tips to enhance their beauty.
How many years have you been in the beauty business?
My name is Bellina Lambdin. I have been in the beauty industry for over 35 years. I started as a beauty consultant for Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Vienna, VA. I also work as a free-lance makeup artist in the Washington DC metropolitan area specializing in Corporate Head Shots, weddings and special events. Some of my clients include Viva Tyson’s Magazine and The Headshot Guru. I look forward to working with my clients to bring out their natural beauty
What inspired you to become part of the beauty industry?
I loved make- up, modeling and beauty magazines when I was young.
How did you get your start at Merle Norman?
When I was in my teens I had acne like many young girls. I was on a constant search for a remedy for my skin. I discovered Merle Norman Cosmetics. I met with the owner Geri Holland. She was very welcoming. She told me to try a product called Miracol. I did and it completely changed the appearance of my skin. I was hooked on Merle Norman and their fabulous products.
What is your beauty regimen? What are some of your favorite products to use?
My beauty regimen consists of a 5-6 step program for proper hydration and toning. In the morning I use Merle Norman facial wipes followed by an AHA toner, Lift and Firm Serum and a combination of Brilliant C Moisturizer, Preventive Firming Defense Cream and Anti-Aging Emulsion w/30 sunscreen. I end my skin care routine with a lip conditioner w/sunscreen.
My evening routine is a bit different. I start by cleansing my skin with Gentle Solutions Cleanser; I follow with age defying serum, brilliant C moisturizer, and Fine line minimizer, wrinkle smoother and ultimate firming neck cream. Ending with Lip revive a lip treatment that moisturizes and exfoliates. All of my moisturizers and serums are applied in layers but in very small doses to achieve the ultimate in toning and hydrating so that skin does not feel greasy or overloaded.
Once a week I use Miracol which is a facial mask used to keep my skin revitalized. On alternate days once a week I use Skin Refining Cleanser which is a mild exfoliate. Merle Norman products are designed to take proper care of your skincare needs.
What is your next step in the beauty?
Some of my favorite products to use are: Skin Refining Cleanser which is an exfoliate, AHA toner which contains witch hazel, anti-redness primer and lip conditioner plus w/sunscreen.
Do you have any beauty tips and/or you’d like to share with our readers?
My biggest beauty tip would be to moisturize your neck. The first signs of aging are seen in the neck area. Keep your skin hydrated. Always pat in your moisturizers. Don’t rub. I often see women rub product into their skin so hard causing a lot of stretching and pulling and redness. The skin is delicate. Treat it calmly.
